Epic true story of Clemens Forell (Bernhard Bettermann), a German soldier who attempts to escape from the Siberian death camp he is incarcerated in at the end of World War II. When Forell's unit is captured by Soviet forces, he is transported to a gulag deep in Russia, where he is told by the formidable Oberleutnant Kamenev (Anatoliy Kotenyov) that he will never escape. After enduring years of barbarity at the hands of the Soviets, he meets Dr. Stauffer (Michael Mendl), who decides to help him escape the prison. However, in order to get home to his wife and child, Forell must battle treacherous conditions and undertake a journey which will bring him face-to-face with death.
