Colourful Russian romantic drama in which a travelling minstrel wanders the country to raise money to marry the girl of his dreams. After his love for the daughter of a local merchant is rejected by her father, minstrel Ashik Kerib (Yuri Mgoyan) spends 1000 days and nights on the road, plying his trade to anyone who will listen, hoping to save enough money to afford a wedding on his return. However, Ashik's future happiness all depends on whether his intended bride will be true to her word, and not marry until his return.
