Louis Clichy and Alexandre Astier direct this children's animation based on the comic book series by René Goscinny. Roger Carel and Guillaume Briat voice Asterix and Obelix, the two feisty Gauls in rural Brittany, the last vestige of autonomy from the Romans. Caesar (Philippe Morier-Genoud), dissatisfied, sets out a plan to construct a luxurious estate called 'The Mansions of the Gods' to win round the Gauls in the village. Asterix and Obelix, determined to foil Caesar's plot, mobilise the villagers against the Roman encroachment.
