Documentary about the assault on the city of Stalingrad by Nazi Germany. Beginning in the late summer of 1942 and lasting nearly six months, the Battle of Stalingrad was Hitler's attempt to advance his Eastern front after Soviet forces experienced significant losses in the war. Initially appearing to be a success, the Germans had forced the Soviets back to the banks of the Volga River, but Hitler's 6th Army were kept at bay by heroic resistance from within the city itself.
