A group of indigenous people face off against the modern day owners of their ancestral homeland in this drama from Italian filmmaker Marco Bechis

Opposing cultures come face to face as a group of local Indians fight for their land in this drama from director Marco Bechis. After generations of inhabiting their native lands in central Brazil, the Guarani Indians have now been reduced to living in reservations and donning traditional dress for the sake of the local tourists and birdwatchers. Working on sugarbeet plantations for the wealthy farmers who have taken their land, the lack of future prospects has led to depression and suicide among the young. After the discovery of another two victims of suicide, local chief Nadio (Ambrosio Vilhalva) decides to take action, and with a group of fellow Guaranis occupies a local farm run by Moreira (Leonardo Medeiros) and his wife (Chiara Caselli). As the two sides' views on the ownership of the land become ever more entrenched and tempers flare, Nadio's increasing taste for alcohol threatens to ignite an already volatile situation.
