Max Irons and Samantha Barks star in this historical drama co-written and directed by George Mendeluk. Set in 1930s Ukraine, with the country gripped by terrible famine and Joseph Stalin (Gary Oliver) looking to continue to advance Soviet ambitions at Ukraine's expense, young artist Yuri (Irons) desperately tries to reunite with his lover Natalka (Barks) following his arrest and imprisonment at the hands of the Soviets. Escaping from jail, Yuri joins an anti-Bolshevik resistance movement and vows to fight back against his country's oppressors and save Natalka and his fellow villagers from starvation. The cast also includes Terence Stamp, Tom Austen and Tamer Hassan.
