Documentary which looks back on the German invasion of France in 1940. The invasion was a military success for Germany, which conquered over a period of days a country that - with the aid of Britain - had held it at bay for four years in World War I. With the Maginot Line proving woefully ineffective, leaving British troops to flee across the English Channel from the Dunkirk beaches, Hitler consolidated his hold on Europe.
