Jean-Pierre Melville directs this pre-New Wave classic, chronicling a raid on a Parisian casino. Bob the Gambler (Roger Duchesne) reverts to his old trade as a bank robber after several bad rolls of the dice. However, his plans to rip off a casino are thrown into chaos by an unforeseen murder and the duplicitous scheming of his criminal colleagues.
A down-on-his-luck former gangster spends his days gambling in casinos. With his glory days behind him, Bob has convinced himself that his time as a master criminal is over: That is until an old acquaintance resurfaces with a plan to rob one of the countrys largest casinos. Directed by Jean-Pierre Melville (LE SAMOURAI, LE CERCLE ROUGE) and exhibiting all his usual flare, BOB LE FLAMEUR was later remade by Neil Jordan as THE GOOD THIEF.
