Braquo is a harsh, intensely realistic French Crime thriller series set very credibly in the desolate inhospitable suburbs of Paris. The story is centred around a team of four police officers whose tenuous existence, through necessity, is permanently bordering the extreme limits of legality itself.
In Season 1, the squad investigate a false accusation of police corruption brought against their former leader (Max) which caused him to commit suicide. The four cops, Eddie Caplan, Walter Morlighem, Theo Wachevski and Roxane Delgado become completely isolated... and in danger of winding up on the wrong side of the law in their quest to expose the truth of what happened to Max. As they delve deeper into the case and uncover even more disturbing facts which suggest their partner was framed they find themselves in personal danger with sinister threats coming at them from all angles; death or a prison sentence being two of the most probable final scenarios.
Season 2 has been labelled as being darker, more violent and even grittier that the first season. The team have been forced to disband with Eddie Caplan on remand and Theo Wachevski fired from the department. Morlighem and Delgado have been demoted to junior positions and are suffering humiliation and rejection from their work colleagues. However the team gradually get caught up in a gangland war. Where will it all end?
Braquo was directed by Oliver Marchal (himself a former police officer) and Frédéric Schoendoerffer. The four main characters are played by Jean-Hugues Anglade, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Joseph Malerba and Karole Rocher.
