Award winning film, Bridesmaids, written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo (which incidentally received 2 Oscar nominations in 2012), is a laugh-out-loud comedy from director Paul Feig.
The story centres on Annie's (Kristen Wiig) desperate attempt to get it right as maid of honour to her best (and lifelong) friend, Lillian (played by Maya Rudolph) who is getting married to boyfriend Doug. Annie's life is a disaster. Her business has failed, her relationship is a catastrophe and her home life is dismal. The only joy in her life is the upcoming wedding and... she completely throws herself into organising the pre-wedding festivities despite all her problems and lack of finance.
However she immediately gets into conflict with the other bridesmaids, Rita, Becca, Helen and Megan who not only set out to compete with Annie for the organisation of the wedding but also try to oust Annie and become Lillian's best friends. What ensues can only be compared to a chick flick Hangover style storyline and includes some truly abysmal disasters such as giving everyone food poisoning, getting them thrown off the plane to Las Vegas and more.

Bridesmaids is an all out laugh fest from start to finish. Focusing on the maid of honor Annie played brilliantly by the wonderful (Kristen Wiig) who is given the almighty task of organising her best friends wedding. Simple you may think yet ultimately a disaster waiting to happen, poor Annie is up against another bridesmaid who is uping her game to win the appoval of the bride to be Lillian. With an array of hilarious characters to tickle your fancy this movie has all the makings of a great comedy which can be compared as a female version of The Hangover. Comedy written by and starring Kristen Wiig as a hapless maid of honour struggling to keep things on an even keel in the lead up to her best friend's wedding. As if the responsibility of the role at such a tough time wasn't trying enough, Annie faces the small matter of dealing with Lillian's other bridesmaids - led by Helen (Rose Byrne) and Megan (Melissa McCarthy) - who have their own ideas on the kind of events befitting Lillian's final weeks as an unmarried woman.
