Collection of archive footage looking at various railways in Britain. In 'Waterloo Sunset' steam trains from Waterloo to Salisbury and Weymouth are recalled on cine film shot between 1958 and 1967 by John Laird, Brian Robins and Geoff Todd. 'Rails in the Isle of Wight' explores the Isle of Wight's railway, ranging from 1950 to the present day, glimpsing the steam trains which once ran on the lines that are now closed. Using Laird's colour films of the 1960s, plus other footage, this records the final years of BR steam operations on the island. 'Vintage Southern' takes a look at the South Eastern and Central Divisions of the SR from the 1930s to the 1960s. The programme contains footage of the Folkstone Harbour, Hawkhurst and Westerham branches and the former Kent and Sussex line and features steam locomotives such as the Derby Day Pullmans and the Golden Arrow.
