Since preserved main line steam began, locomotives of the Southern railway have performed regularly on the country's steam routes, but it is only since 1991 that they have returned to the Southern heartland. Starting in the late 1980's, and using high quality material from the country's finest contemporary video collection, we see how, by 1994, steam was running regularly over the electrified third rail lines of south east England.
