At the end of the worst day of his life, TV reporter Bruce (Jim Carrey) angrily ridicules and rages against God and God responds. Endowing Bruce with divine powers, God challenges him to take on the big job to see if he can do it any better!
If you love Jim Carey you will love this! I found it hilarious throughout with a good mixture of laughs and seriousness.
First-rate fun with Carrey returning to his trademark, full-blown mugging, with fine support from the ever appealing Jennifer Aniston, while Morgan Freeman makes the perfect God. Consistently funny throughout, and the DVD features half an hour of deleted scenes (all of it good, but sensibly trimmed.) The film's message? Be pleased with what you've got. Now, that's a pretty good message for all 'n' sundry, but we get it in just about every movie we see, and it's kinda weird when you realise it's the money grabbing Hollywood suits and multi-millionaire performers delivering the same message again and again to we humdrum nobodies. Control? What do you all think? Not a criticism of the movie, but it started me thinking.

Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) feels that his life is pointless and, when he curses God after a particularly bad day at work, he suddenly finds himself face-to-face with the Supreme Being (Morgan Freeman). After trying to persuade Bruce that it isn't easy, God gives Bruce the chance to try the job himself and bestows all his Supreme powers to him for 7 days. Well, what can a man do if you have the Almighty's powers? However, after 6 days of fun and mayhem, much to the bemusement of Bruce's wife (Jennifer Aniston), God tells Bruce that he is disappointed and gives him 1 day to improve the world or else the world will remain in the void that Bruce has created...
