Documentary that follows the German choreographer Pina Bausch as she stages a ballet using a group of 40 young people. Believing that a ballet changes according to the dancers used, Bausch decided to test her theory by using 14-18 year-old schoolchildren in a production of her 1978 work, 'Kontaktof' (Contact Zone). The film follows the children as they work through the rehearsal process with Bausch, and records their growing confidence with their abilities as they become more at ease with the work.
