War-based drama about Polish pilot and famous concert pianist Stefan Radetzky (Anton Walbrook). Radetzky finds himself in hospital with amnesia after being injured in battle. As he begins to play the piano in a hypnotic state, the narrative flashbacks to his time in the war, where it is discovered he had fallen for Carole (Sally Gray), an American journalist. Radetzky later meets up with his lost love in America, where he continues his success as a pianist.
