| DVD

Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (Dir. Mel Stuart 1971): It's everybody's non-pollutionary anti-institutionary pro-confectionery factory of fun! Thirty-five years after this merry movie charmed audiences with a colourful mix of song humour and life lessons the Candy Man still wields magic especially now in a vibrant new print with a soundtrack in true stereo. From the classic Roald Dahl story comes a lip-smacking delight with jolly tunes among them 'The Candy Man' and 'Pure Imagination'. With a golden ticket young Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum) wins a tour of the... factory of wily mogul Wonka (Gene Wilder) and run by his Oompa-Loompa crew. There Charlie his Grandpa Joe (Jack Albertson) and others discover a kind heart is a finer possession than a sweet tooth. Don't let the tour leave without you! Danny Champion Of The World (Dir. Gavin Millar 1989): In a small English town a widowed father and his son own and operate a gas station that rests on land coveted by a local developer. They must fight to keep their land and retain the traditional values they have come to live by against harsh government inspectors who are privately in league with the developer. The Witches (Dir. Nicolas Roeg 1990): Saving the world from witches is a tall order for a boy they've turned into a mouse! Luke a young boy recently orphaned is brought to England by his grandmother. At a hotel in which they are staying a group of witches have gathered to prepare a plot to rid the world of all children! [show more]

Danny Champion of the World (1989) is set in the English countryside during the 1950s and tells the story of nine-year-old Danny (Samuel Irons) and his widower father William (Jeremy Irons), a poacher who lives in a caravan on a great estate. The lord of the manor wants to turn the land into a housing development, thus pushing William out, but Danny has other plans. As they battle to save their way of life and refuse to give way to the builders, a strong bond grows between father and son. The Witches (1990) sees Luke (Jason Fisher) and his wise Aunt Helga (Mai Zetterling) arrive at an English seaside hotel where the Royal Commission for Prevention of Cruelty to Children is holding a convention. Luke discovers that its members are not charity workers but wicked witches who plan to turn all children into mice - starting with him. The mouse-Luke must alert his aunt and stop their dastardly plan. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) stars Peter Ostrum as young Charlie Bucket, a boy who wins one of the coveted 'Golden Tickets' from a Wonka Bar that allows its holder to take a trip around the eccentric Willy Wonka's (Gene Wilder) Chocolate Factory. Charlie and the rest of the winners find themselves in a magical world of chocolate rivers, Oompa Loompas, everlasting gobstoppers, lickable wall-paper, golden egg-laying geese and chilling tales to warn children not to misbehave. Roald Dahl wrote the screenplay from his own book.
