When respected marine biologist Victoria (Iacono) is sent to her coastal hometown to investigate the alarming loss of marine life occurring there, she is returning to nothing but bad memories and an alcoholic father. Her scientific research fails to provide an explanation for the plummeting marine ecosystem but a local girl, Auriel (Pinn), informs her of a legend concerning a horrific sea creature which requires sacrifice every 30 years. When two men suddenly begin pursuing them, Auriel and Victoria soon realise that they are to be the next sacrifice.
