In the stop-motion animated Doggy Poo, a little dog leaves the eponymous character by the side of a road, where it remains to ponder why it exists. Over the course of several months Poo meets a leaf, a hen and a lump of soil, who assures it, "God has not created you for no reason". But the little Poo feels rejected until a dandelion sprout accepts it as fertiliser. The message, that even the humblest have a place in creation, is a worthy one, but in Doggy Poo the main character whines constantly, and the story unfolds at a leaden pace. Parents who find Doggy Poo acceptable... viewing for young children--clearly the intended audience--may have to steer their kids away from the genuine article. --Charles Solomon [show more]
This is one of the most bizarre, wait... scratch that, THE most bizarre children's film I've ever seen. It is a Korean stop-motion animation short, about 30 minutes, about a piece of Doggy Poo looking for the meaning of life. You witness the dog leaving our hero behind, and all of his meetings with various other things during the course of what seems like several months. I'm not quite sure how the poo lasts this long, but hey, suspension of disbelief. He meets a piece of soil that fell off a truck, who talks about how much better he is because great crops grow from him. He meets a leaf, who blows away. He meets a family of ducks whose mother won't let them eat the poo so he cannot even be a good meal. Eventually he meets a dandelion sprout and finds his meaning in life, he can help the sprout to grow. Anyway, its very touching, for a movie about dog crap. Check it out.
