For many people the romance of the railways was embodied in the steam locomotives that bore the famous Express name - these were the most prestigious of all the trains that ran. There was none more famous than the Cornish Riviera Express which ran daily from GWR's Paddington terminus to the much-loved holiday resorts in Devon and Cornwall.
