Jennifer Lopez co-produces this urban music drama with a Latin flavour. Giancarlo Esposito stars as Roberto, an aspiring young rapper in New York's Harlem who is forced to return to his family's native country of Puerto Rico to live with his estranged father after a run-in with a local gang puts his life in danger. On arrival in Puerto Rico he forms a strong bond with his step-brother Javi (Victor Rasuk) and the two pursue their dream of hitting the big time with their infectious blend of reggae-rap fusion.
