On the other side is Cathy Stevens (Susan Wood) 'The Dog Lady', who has been taking in people's dogs from all over the country as they can no longer afford to keep them. With the help of her schoolmates and over 60 dogs Emma attempts to win over the mayor and the citizens of Doverville by staging a festive performance 'The 12 Dogs of Christmas'. In the sequel '12 Dogs of Christmas: Great Puppy Rescue' (2012) the Doverville puppy orphanage is in danger of being shut down when an out-of-town business magnate (Sean Patrick Flanery) announces his plans for renovation.
