When Gwen's (Annette O'Toole) brother George is murdered, she and her family take comfort that his killer, a former lover, will go to prison. However, the accused man's defence counsel is celebrity lawyer, Merle Hammond (Michael McKean), who makes it seem that George was a threat to society. When the killer gets away free, an obsessed Gwen decides to wreak revenge on the man responsible - Merle Hammond.
