The 17th century saw London rocked to its foundations by a double disaster. Hardly had the victims of the previous year's Great Plague been buried when the Great Fire of September 1666 destroyed five-sixths of the city. In just four days the blaze had rendered 100 000 Londoners homless a catastrophe following the earlier epidemic's huge death toll. This DVD charts these climactic events and their aftermath with the help of contemporary illustrations and dramatic 'eye-witness' accounts.
