Polish historical epic directed by Jerzy Hoffman. Set during the Khmelnytsky Uprising in 17th-century Ukraine, the film follows a young Polish knight, Jan Skrzetuski (Michal Zebrowski), as he battles against a Cossack Ataman, Jurko Bohun (Aleksandr Domogarov), for the affections of Princess Helena (Izabella Scorupco) while the war of Polish liberation from the Ukraine is being fought.
