Political party leader David Holst, one of Sweden's most popular politicians, is handsome, funny, popular and predicted as the country's next prime minister. But what at first appears to be an easy victory turns into a grueling defeat as another party wins the elections and four years of leading the country, When David suddenly falls in love, the problem is not that he's already married or that he's fallen in love with another man.The problem is that the man he's fallen head over heels in love with, Martin, is the only man on earth he can't love. He is the Secretary... of State for the rivaling party that won the elections! He risks everything - his family, his party and his own name. If they can't keep their relationship a secret a public scandal threatens to destroy both their careers. But David doesn't have the nerve to play this kind of game and eventually the mistakes and misunderstandings pile up and their love is lost. Almost. Another Four Years is a tragic, funny, daring, clever, lewd and extremely romantic comedy proving once again that love conquers all. [show more]

Tova Magnusson-Norling directs and stars in this Swedish romantic comedy about a politician who risks all when he falls for another man. Well-liked and respected Liberal politician David Holst (Björn Kjellman)'s career suffers a setback when he is unexpectedly defeated in the country's election. Although he's initially despondent, David's forward-thinking wife and business manager, Fia (Magnusson-Norling), wastes no time in starting to plan for his next campaign. But David's life changes dramatically when, unaware of his true sexuality, he falls for fellow politician Martin (Eric Ericson). With his wife having suspected his true inclinations years before, David grapples with the implications of his new found love and realises that the problem is not so much that he's become involved in a gay relationship, but that he's done so with a member of the governing opposition party.
