Just as the original hobos of the early 20th century were scorned by the mainstream of society, so too are today's train riders. Over a year of traveling, the young train riders in Freeload seek adventure and answers on America's freight trains. Freeload is a dive into a beggar's existence - it is a ride through America's backyard - it is a musical endeavour that feels like a drama - it is a sociological examination of the ignored. The allure of the road is infectious. One never forgets freedom once felt. Bonus Materials Deleted Scenes Interview with author, Ted Conover... Movie Trailer Making of FREELOAD Soundtrack Bonus Track from Ex-Cocaine [show more]

Documentary exploring the culture of modern-day train hoppers. In the early 20th century, freighthopping became a common means of transportation, providing a quick and cheap way for migrant workers to travel. Although it is less common today, there still exists a number of people who use the freight trains as a means of embarking on a nomadic lifestyle. Over the course of eighteen months, film-maker Daniel T. Skaggs travels with them, providing insight into their motivations and their ambitions.
