Funny People is a hilarious comedy-drama directed by Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) and starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.

Famous comedian George Simmions is diagnosed with a terminal illness and is given one year to live. But the egocentric superstar has no real friends to confide in and lost the love of his life many years ago.

One night George meets Ira, a struggling unknown comedian who's performing at the same club as him. George takes an instant shine to Ira and offers to employ him as his personal assistant, to help him through his troubling... time and to be his opening act.

But as he's forced to re-evaluate what is important to him, George begins to realise that he doesn't need a PA at all, he needs a friend!

This movie is a good mix of laughs, emotional depth and complex characters.

Judd Apatow writes and directs this comedy drama starring Adam Sandler as George Simmons, a famous comedian who finds out that he has an incurable blood disorder and less than a year to live. His subsequent desire to form a genuine bond with another human being causes George to proffer a hand up the career ladder to struggling newcomer Ira Wright (Seth Rogen), whom he takes under his wing as his assistant and opening act. Meanwhile, George also seeks reconciliation and closure in the central relationships of his life, in particular with his ex-wife Laura (Leslie Mann).

Judd Apatow rounds up the usual suspects--Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, and Jonah Hill--for his third feature as a director. In FUNNY PEOPLE, a popular comedian comes far closer to death than he had every imagined. The comedy also stars Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, and RZA.
