Box set containing three popular gangster movies. 'Goodfellas' (1990) follows Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) as he rises through the ranks of the Mafia. Upon turning FBI informant to help pay for his drug addiction, Hill recalls how he got started in the Mob following the $6 million robbery of a Lufthansa cargo at a New York airport. Hill and his partners, Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro) and Tommy De Vito (Joe Pesci), went on to rise through the ranks of the Mafia over three decades, eventually eliminating Paul Cicero (Paul Sorvino), the neighbourhood godfather who originally took Hill under his wing. 'True Romance' (1993) is a violent thriller based on an early script by Quentin Tarantino. Clarence (Christian Slater) is a kung-fu loving guy whose boss buys him a night with a hooker, Alabama (Patricia Arquette). The two fall in love and get married the next day. However, Alabama's violent pimp Drexel (Gary Oldman) stands in their way, and so Clarence takes it on himself to wipe Drexel out. In the process, he unwittingly picks up a suitcase full of uncut cocaine stolen by Drexel from the Mafia. The young lovers high-tail it across country to LA, hoping to sell the coke to a movie producer, with the Mafia and the cops on their tail. In 'Heat' (1995), Robert De Niro and Al Pacino face off as thief and policeman, both obsessed with their professions. De Niro stars as Neil McCauley, the criminal mastermind in a gang of professional thieves (which includes Tom Sizemore and Val Kilmer), who unwittingly attract the attention of super-cop Vincent Hanna (Pacino). Hanna will not stop until he catches the gang in the midst of committing a crime, an obsession that alienates him from those he is close to.
