Formed in 1993 Gene's chemistry was obvious from the start. Martin Rossiter's voice a heady blend of fragility and assurance was complemented by Steve Mason's bluesy guitar riffs and gorgeous melody lines whilst the whole structure was firmly underpinned by Kevin Miles churning out prominent yet sensitive bass lines and Matt James thumping the skins for all he was worth.
