Ronit Elkabetz co-directs and stars in this Israeli domestic drama. In Israel, divorces can only be legitimised by the rabbinical court, which must gain the consent of both husband and wife before a decision can be made. The film follows Viviane Amsalem (Elkabetz), who must fight, over the period of five years, for her freedom from her distant and uncompromising husband Elisha (Simon Abkarian) and the courts who seem unwilling to listen to Viviane's reasons for separation.
