1960s British drama in which a couple adopt a troubled child. Sheila (Annette Whiteley) is only 14-years-old but has already had a tough life. With her mother in prison and her father unknown to her, Sheila is in care and has been taken in by any number of foster families, none of whom have helped her find a way to settle down. The latest couple to try and provide a home for her are Anne (Rachel Roberts) and John (James Maxwell). Will they be any more successful than their predecessors?
