Circus knife-thrower Gabor (Daniel Auteuil) dissuades Adèle (Vanessa Paradis) from committing suicide and takes her on as his partner, tying her to a board each night and hurling his knives at her. The act is an immediate success and the pair take off for a series of adventures across the Mediterranean.
