Gone to Seed re-unites the principal cast in entirely new roles: Alison Steadman, Jim Broadbent and Warren Clarke are Hilda, Monty and Winston Plant triplets who are anything but identical with Sheila Hancock as domineering matriarch Mag; comedy legend Peter Cook stars as Mag's old flame, conman Welsey Willis. The complete series of the early 1990s comedies featuring the same principal cast members playing different roles. 'Gone to the Dogs' revolves around the world of greyhound racing, where millionaire Larry Patterson (Jim Broadbent) uses his wealth and status to take ownership of all the champion dogs. His fortunes contrast sharply with Jim Morley (Warren Clarke), a down on his luck punter with a three-legged greyhound. Larry's wife, Lauren (Alison Steadman), and Jim's son, Little Jim (Harry Enfield), find themselves caught up in the unequal power struggle between the two men. 'Gone to Seed' follows the fortunes of the Plant family, who run a garden centre in Rotherhithe. The garden centre has been in the family for generations but its future appears uncertain given that the heirs to the enterprise, triplets Hilda (Steadman), Monty (Broadbent) and Winston (Clarke), are in a status of near-perpetual war and have no interest in gardening.
