While his mother is in rehab and his father is on a business tripĀ with his assistant, 14-year-old outsider Marik is spending the summer holidays bored and alone at his parents' villa, until rebellious teenager Tschick appears. Tschick, a Russian immigrant and an outcast, steals a car and decides to set off on a journey away from Berlin with Marik tagging along for the ride. So begins a wild adventure where the two experience the trip of a lifetime and share a summer that they will never forget.

Fatih Akin co-writes and directs this German comedy drama adapted from Wolfgang Herrndorf's novel. The film follows disillusioned teenager Maik (Tristan Göbel) as he embarks on a road trip with new classmate Tschick (Anand Batbileg). After not receiving an invite to his crush Tatjani (Aniya Wendel)'s upcoming birthday party and with his alcoholic mother in rehab, Maik recruits Tschick and heads off on an impromptu journey in a stolen car. With no particular destination in mind the pair head out of Berlin and into the German countryside in a quest for excitement and adventure.
