The celebrated fairy tales of Hansel and Gretel and Rapunzel have enthralled children and adults alike for generations. Now Encyclopaedia Britannica presents these famous stories side-by-life with other tales from around the world with a similar theme. In 'Hungry Witches' we meet Handel and Gretel and then learn about The 'Woodcutter's Wealthy Sister' a tale from Syria as well as 'Pedro and the Monster' a story from the Philippines. 'Trapped in Towers' features Rapunzel followed by the Maltese story of 'Fenchelchen' and the Israeli tale 'The Princess in the Tower'.
