Govind Nihalani directs this Hindi drama in which a woman attempts to deal with the murder of her son. Set in Calcutta in the 1970s, the film follows Sujata (Jaya Bachchan), her husband Dibyanath (Anupam Kher) and their college student son Brati (Joy Sengupta).
