The rise of HearSay, the winner of ITV1s 2001 series PopStars, has been phenomenal to say the least. As HearSay Live documents, despite being together only nine months and having just two hit singles, the group accomplished the unthinkable--a dazzling, all-singing, all dancing, sell-out UK arena tour. Kicking off with a thrilling James-Bond-style opening sequence the group descend via ropes on to the stage. Despite being a slickly choreographed affair, the concert appears to be hindered by the audiences general lack of familiarity with the material. This is further... emphasised by the highlights of the concert being the solo, cover performances given by each band member--"Chains" (Mylene); "I Found Lovin'" (Danny); "How Do I Live" (Kym); "Never Too Much" (Noel) and Suzannes excellent version of Madonnas "Express Yourself". Although their second album Everybody was released just two months after the featured live concert, the show fails to include any material from this release. On the DVD: the extras on this release are truly excellent value, with individual video diaries from each member of the group and a comprehensive photo gallery. As well as the quality concert footage (presented in 16:9 anamorphic picture format), the "behind the scenes" documentary provides a fascinating overview of the preparations and rehearsals for the tour, as well as highlighting the bands apparent insecurity about their continued future success. Theres also an interactive quiz--answer three questions correctly about a chosen member of the group and youre shown exclusive footage of the individual performing live. The menus are attractive, extremely easy to use and each section is orally introduced by the band. --John Galilee [show more]
