Double-bill of animations based on the popular comic book created by Mike Mignola. In 'Sword of Storms' (2006) a university professor becomes possessed by the ancient twin demons of Thunder and Lightning after opening a forbidden scroll. The Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defence dispatches Hellboy, researcher Kate Corrigan and psychic Russell Thorne to Japan to investigate the incident where Hellboy discovers the Sword of Storms, a cursed samurai artefact that transports him to an alternative supernatural dimension inhabited by evil spirits and grotesque monsters. In 'Blood and Iron' (2007) someone in upstate New York is trying to bring a vampire back from the dead and the (by now elderly) Professor Broom has decided to investigate the case himself. He takes along with him the top BPRD agents, Hellboy, Liz Sherman, Abe Sapien, and new agent, Sydney Leach, all of whom are almost as worried about Broom's welfare as the return of any vampire until events take an unforeseen turn.
