Documentary about former Baltimore drug trafficker and organised crime figure Melvin Williams. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Melvin amassed a huge fortune while profiting from the illegal trade of heroin and cocaine in his native city. It wasn't long before his illicit dealings drew the attention of the authorities and in 1984 he was caught and shortly after incarcerated for 26 years. Wiliams' life and underground status has also served as inspiration for the character of Avon Barksdale in HBO's 'The Wire' (2002), an award-winning Baltimore-based crime drama, of which he would later take an acting role in.
