Rainer Werner Fassbinder writes and directs this 1970s drama about a man whose only wish is to find love. After a difficult upbringing with unaffectionate parents who are ungrateful even when he builds them a house, Peter (Vitus Zeplichal) looks for love with his bride-to-be, Erika (Elke Aberle). They move to Munich and he tries to make a life for them but soon he is out of his depth in debt. When he finally reaches breaking point, the results are disastrous.
