Kansas the 1950s. The Clutter family are woken from their beds one morning and murdered by two armed men Perry Smith and Dick Hickock who are looking for 000 they believe to be on the property. Finding no money the killers leave the crime scene believing that they have left no clues; but the subsequent police investigation soon begins to narrow down the suspects. Based on Truman Capote's celebrated non-fiction novel which had been previously adapted for the screen by writer-director Richard Brooks in 1967.
