Jack Reacher is the 2012 action crime thriller directed by Christopher McQuarrie. It is based on Lee Child's 2005 novel, One Shot, and stars Tom Cruise in the titular role. Jack Reacher is an ex-military investigator who has been called in to definitively confirm the guilt or otherwise of a former Army sniper (James Barr) who has been accused of shooting five apparently random people in a Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) street. While the suspect is being interrogated he simply writes a note "Get Jack Reacher"; an unusual request considering their poor relationship in the... past.
Reacher and Barr have a history dating back to an incident in their military past where Reacher is convinced Barr went unpunished for a similar murderous crime. He swore he would eventually get his man and opportunistically sets out to achieve his goal this time determined not to help Barr but to seek what he believes will be justice for past incidents of murderous bloodshed.
However as he digs further into the details surrounding the case he discovers that things are not quite so clear cut and he himself is required to become a killing machine just to survive. High octane action and car chase scenes that are second to none make this film well worth watching!
