Larry G. Spangler directs this blaxploitation Western written by and starring Fred Williamson. When Joshua (Williamson), known by some as 'The Black Rider', returns from serving in the Civil War to discover that his mother has been murdered he is naturally devastated. Rage overtakes sadness when he discovers that the crime appears to have been racially motivated, with a gang of white outlaws responsible. With the authorities apparently uninterested in the case, Joshua quickly realises that he will have to avenge his mother himself. He duly sets out on the trail of the outlaws, nursing a sense of grievance only violent retribution can satiate.
