Double bill of psychological horror films by Korean director Kim Ki Duk. In 'The Isle' (2000), Hee-jin (Seoh Jung), an enigmatic and mysterious young woman, runs a bait shop at the edge of a remote South Korean lake for the fishermen who moor their rafts there. At night she prostitutes herself to the fishermen, but when she meets lonely and suicidal Hyun-shik (Kim Yu-seok), she begins an intense relationship with him. When Hyun-shik attempts to kill himself by swallowing fish-hooks, Hee-jin rescues him and begins violently removing all the competition for her favours. In 'Samaritan Girl' (2004), two teenage girls start up their own prostitution business in order to save up the money they need to achieve their dream of travelling to Europe. When one of the girls is killed in a police raid, the other undergoes a lengthy period of penance, and travels with the dead girl's father on a trip in an attempt to find redemption.
