Legion Of Brothers DVD

| DVD

Immediately after the attacks on September 11, 2001, the U.S. government deployed fewer than 100 Special Forces troops to Afghanistan to initiate a secret war. Building a coalition with the rebels of the Northern Alliance, the U.S. troops managed to drive both the Taliban and Al-Qaeda out of power without the use of conventional, large-scale military operations by the end of 2001. Despite this victory, the U.S. and its allies soon become mired in a seemingly never-ending war. Produced by CNN films and directed by Greg Barker (Manhunt), this untold story features unprecedented... access to the Green Berets who played pivotal roles in these covert missions. Reflecting on their experiences and on the brothers-in-arms they lost, these elite soldiers offer a riveting celebration of valour and a sobering, cautionary tale. [show more]

Greg Barker directs this documentary which recounts the experiences of the US Special Forces soldiers sent to Afghanistan in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Sent in small teams and instructed to join up with the Afghan Northern Alliance, the soldiers helped strike back against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces which controlled the region. The film features archive footage alongside interviews with some of the Green Berets who fought on the front lines.
