Turkish-born director Ferzan Ozpetek helms this Italian coming-out comedy drama. The Cantone family are successful in the pasta-making business and enjoy the status and influence they wield in their Southern Italian home town. When youngest son Tommaso (Riccardo Scamarcio) confesses to his older brother, Antonio (Preziosi), that he is gay, he is stunned to discover that Antonio is also gay and is involved with one of the workers at the family's factory. Patriarch Vincenzo (Fantastichini), incensed when Antonio's sexual orientation is subsequently revealed, casts him out of the family home and suffers a minor heart attack, forcing Tommaso to withhold his own revelations and step into the family business he has spent his life trying to get away from.
