Lovetrue DVD

| DVD

LOVETRUE offers a unique exploration of the challenges that love can present and how our past and present experiences shape the decisions we make when the fantasy of True Love dissipates. Using cinematic expressions of past memories and possible futures, the film also examines non-fiction performance as a documentation of truth and a purveyor of memory. Following three surprising love stories in starkly different American landscapes, we dive into the mysterious, the familiar, the dysfunctional, and the imaginary aspects of their relationships. LOVETRUE is a poetic... roller-coaster down the inevitable nature of our shifting perspective on love. [show more]

Alma Har'el directs this multi-stranded documentary which looks at our perception of love and the influence it has on our lives. Combining intimate interviews with artistic dramatisation, the film follows the real-life relationships of three very different people as they unfold across different parts of America. In Alaska, a young woman working as an exotic dancer tentatively begins her first serious relationship, while in Hawaii, a father attempts to come to terms with the unexpected news that the son he has been raising is not his biological child. Finally, in New York City, a young singer is forced to re-evaluate her relationship with her parents following their recent traumatic divorce.
