This is the first three series of BBC One's gritty psychological crime drama which aired between 2010 and 2013. Idris Elba plays Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, a highly talented investigator, a member of the Serious and Serial Crime Unit who possesses a somewhat troubled soul.
The series follows Luther's obsessive, inexorable, totally fixated approach to solving serial murder cases as he struggles to deal with problems in his own personal life; facing brutal violence and horrifying depravity on a day to day basis while desperately attempting to... rekindle his sadly failing marriage.
Superb acting and cleverly plotted storylines makes this one of the best crime drama series to be found on TV. Written by Neil Cross; Luther stars Idris Elba, Warren Brown, Dermot Crowley, Sienna Guillory and Paul McGann.
