Comedy drama from film-maker Rebecca Miller. Set in New York, the film follows the rigidly planned life of singleton Maggie (Greta Gerwig) who, determined to have a baby, sets out to find a surrogate with the help of her friend Tony (Bill Hader). Settling for a sperm donation from her old college pal Guy (Travis Fimmel), everything seems to be going to plan until Maggie encounters John (Ethan Hawke), a handsome anthropology professor and writer. Feeling stifled by his wife (Julianne Moore), John seeks comfort in the arms of the refreshing Maggie and the pair soon begin an affair. Despite a seemingly perfect set-up, however, Maggie remains dissatisfied.
