Chadwick Boseman stars in this biographical drama based on the life of the first African American Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Before the height of his law career, as a young attorney, Marshall (Boseman) fights in a case alongside fellow inexperienced lawyer Sam Friedman (Josh Gad) in defence of a black chauffeur named Joseph Spell (Sterling K. Brown). Spell finds himself under investigation for sexual assault and attempted murder after being accused by his white employer Eleanor Strubing (Kate Hudson) and it is up to Marshall to prove the innocence of this man while also defeating racial prejudice in society.
